Three Weeks Home
DECEMBER 16, 2014
Weekly update here…
well, Matthew is sick. We think he may have caught his twin sisters bronchitis. The fluid, I can hear, is all over his chest and he’s been coughing like crazy. His coughing has been making him throw up.. so it has been a very messy few days.
Praise God though… his blood pressure has been good..no fever.. and we even raised his dialysis solution to 190. However, because of the throwing up we are going to decrease the solution back down to 180 for a day or two. We will just have to wait and see what the doctor says about this cough and see how Matthew continues to handle it… trial and error. That’s pretty much Matthews life… trial and error.
Matthew had labs last week and everything seems to be “okay”. It feels like Matthew will never be GOOD… just always okay.. lol.. but yeah… he’s o-kay. He needs more protein in his diet… more phosphorous and more sodium. So we are giving him supplements for all that… even adding a pinch of salt to his formula… lol. weird, I know… but Matthew is pretty much like a science project. We base his well-being on labs and blood tests every week.
I wish I had a copy of his labs to show you all how we know if Matt is doing good or not… its really weird.. and funny.. we look at numbers and are like.. mmm yeah hes good… or hmmm no its bad.. we need to do this and this and this…. and then just wait for next labs… lol. Nothing on his outer appearance will show you if he is “sick” or not. Maybe dehydrated… but other than that, you wouldn’t be able to tell he’s sick.
Life has been …. interesting. I thought life in the NICU was hard…
*sigh*
BUT GOD…..
God is good. We are always hanging on His Promise… hanging on His word… every day. With God’s strength and all your prayers… we ARE and will continue to be “okay’. =)
Taking Matthew to the doctor in a few, so I will update as best I can.
Be Blessed everyone. Take a deep breath and keep your eyes on Him
